Anybody who has ever tasted cake can tell you that they are the most versatile dessert. Be it spongy layers of chocolate, creamy layers of butter cream and vanilla or drizzled with hazelnut or butterscotch, they all make for great combinations. Any sweet treat when combined with cake makes for a delicious treat. The most famous example is the on-going trend of chocolate cakes with bits of chocolate cookies added to its layers. -Apple cakes: Apples go great with a freshfruit cake. As a kid, everybody loved caramel apples. Imagine having those bakes into a luscious cake. Apple cakes can be baked in several ways. The most popular is the apple layer cake. This three layer cake includes layers rich with caramelized apple stacked one upon the other with buttercream in between. The entire cake is then coated with butter cream. Small quantities of cinnamon and ginger compliment the cake well.

-Strawberry cream cakes: When we say fresh fruit cake, strawberry is most definitely on our mind. Strawberry is the most cherished seasonal fruit and is great when baked into a cake. This cake has layers of fresh strawberries cut into pieces and arranged between the layers. The most popular choice to go with strawberry is buttercream or vanilla however some gourmet chefs combine it with dark chocolate or add other berries, making it just as delicious.
