India is an
agriculture based economy, thanks to its climatic conditions and fertile soil.
The country is self sufficient in food production and tops in exporting food
items across the globe. For good agricultural practice, sufficient water is
needed, which is fuelled by the pristine lakes and rivers of India. There are
hundreds of water bodies and dams capable of irrigating thousands of acres of
land in the country.
South India plays
a pivotal role in augmenting the Indian agricultural economy. The nutrient rich
soil will encourage growth of crops all over the year, and several food grains
and pulses are cultivated in this area. Interestingly, there are several scenic
locations and holiday spots around the rivers and backwaters of Kerala.
Subsequently, many holiday packages such as Kerala backwaters tours are designed around them.
